Additional Hardware
There are two add-ons for your computer you can obtain for use with Shakti.
You may not need either of them. You will
NOT need both.
1) A Sound Blaster Sound Card For a desktop computer
If you are sure your computer has a good sound card, You don't need this. If you have an onboard sound card, you might like to replace it with this, especially if you use your
computer for music (commentary).
2) A powered USB 2 Sound Device that attaches to a USB port on a laptop computer. Find it on eBay
Powered by an AC adaptor that plugs into the wall, it has a higher output. It has it's own
software which must be installed to use it. It will also give you a network connection, and four additional USB
ports. If you already have a network connection, you should not install the one that comes with this device (the
Toshiba USB Multimedia Center).This device
is for windows 98 and XP. It does not work with Windows VISTA.
If you are using Windows Vista®, the recommended sound device
is the Sound Blaster Audigy Sound card or Sound Blaster LIVE! for Desktops, and
Sound Blaster USB Audigy for laptops.
